My littlest one plays mommy with her dolls. She takes care of her babies feeds them clothes them does all the good stuff. But on occasion, her doll babies apparently behave badly. And need discipline. One day I overheard her telling her doll baby how he had misbehaved and was very bad. And after spanking the doll she then proceeded to throw it in the air and allowed it to land on the floor.
Manifestation of Christ
Often time we as Christians we are so busy trying to be Christ and we get it wrong. We get it wrong sometimes because we don’t really understand the heart of God. As
Do as Christ Would Do
We were made in the likeness of Christ. Called to be a mirror image of Christ. What does this mean? It means we are to do as Christ would do. How can you do as Christ would do if you are acting without consulting God? John 8: 2-11 the story of the woman caught in adultery. If you read the story there is a woman brought to Jesus. Now if sin was on a spectrum rating, she would land pretty close to the top or far end of bad. And Jesus just looked at her (I think with kindness and forgiveness) and more to her to go and sin no more. Now think about the person who is living a way you feel is so bad. Their bad is way high on the recipient with scale. What are you going to do? Are you going to tell them how wrong they are? They already know it. In Jeremiah 31:33 says God has written his law on our hearts.
Acting Like Christ Rather than Acting for Christ
We can choosse to start acting Like Christ rather than acting for Christ. Choosing to act like Christ would be doing something similar to what Jesus did with the adulterous woman. Choosing to act for Christ is to tell a person of their failed behaviors. Explain how they need to clean up their act. Showing them Christ’s judgment rather than his love.
Food for thought & Discussion
- Everywhere we go do people see Christ or do they see your judgment?
- Can you think of instances where you could have done a better job showing Christ’s love?
- Do you see others fault better than your own?
